FLORIDA, United States — Orangetheory Fitness has announced plans to open 70 new studios in Southern England, including at least 30 in London over the next decade.
Taking over three of the four current Orangetheory Fitness studios in the UK, the master franchisee 3 Kings plans to renovate the existing outposts and open an additional three to five new studios within the next 12 months.
Led by Jamie Weeks, studio owner and area developer for Orangetheory in Oregon and South Carolina, the UK expansion will build on the brand’s meteoric growth over the past five years.
“We are thrilled about this agreement and the explosive growth Jamie Weeks and his 3 Kings team have committed to over the next decade in the UK,” said Dave Long, Co-Founder and CEO of Orangetheory Fitness.
“When we were looking for a master franchisee for a market with so much potential, we knew we required a partner with diverse and proven business expertise and professionals who deeply shared our corporate values and mission. Jamie has truly got it all, which is evident through his rapid studio growth in the US, and we’re confident he will bring the same level of passion to the UK market.”
Launched in Florida in 2010, Orangetheory Fitness has transformed into one of the world’s top fitness franchises, with more than 620 studios in 45 states and 12 countries. First revealing plans to embark on aggressive expansion in both the US and internationally back in 2016, the fitness brand is being supported by private equity group Roark Capital, through an undisclosed growth equity investment.
On track to have 900 studios open globally by the end of 2017, in the UK Orangetheory Fitness will be led by several entrepreneurial and highly experienced executives with proven track records and extensive networks both within and outside the fitness industry. And for Weeks in particular, the opportunity to play a part in penetrating London’s fitness market was too attractive to pass up.
Arguing that Orangetheory’s unique workout is perfect for the city and its surrounding markets, he is confident the brand’s UK expansion plans will contribute to its ongoing success and strengthen its mission to deliver proven fitness results on a global scale.
